Reid Visits His Sub-Family

Reid and I went to visit his daycare provider Kathy and her girls Julia and Amber. Reid absolutely adores these girls. I feeling is mutual. He has missed them this summer.

Reid plays in his new sandbox in the backyard. Jeff and I put it together for him and Jeff filled it up yesterday. Reid had a good time and got sand in every crevice you can imagine. We are hoping the weather will improve soon so he can play outside. He is tired of playing with us inside.

Up Tah Camp

Jeff takes a turn on the tractor. He moved loads of gravel to the mud in the road to try and firm up the drive in.

Nolan is getting so big! He likes to sit on the 4-wheeler. He calls me "Uncle Jess". I think it is because Uncle Jeff and Uncle Jess sound so similiar. It is cute just the same.

This is where Reid played for about 1.5 hours. He was dirty as ever but happy.

More Camping Fun

Reid and Jeff hung out just before bed and shared a snack. I think it looks like an advertisement for Goldfish Crackers.

The next morning, we got up and took Reid to the campground playground. He had a really good time playing in the sand and going down the slide.

As you can see, he LOVES the slide!

Camping Fun

We took the camper to Hid-N-Pines campground to spend a night. It was Reid's first night at a campground and he did very well. We met up with Selena and Hannah for the afternoon and went to Old Orchard Beach. Reid LOVES to play in the sand.

We went back to the campground to play in the pool. Reid and Hannah had a great time splashing around.

Hannah took a Superfly jump into the pool. It was hilarious to see her face light up with every jump.

Busy Days

Reid visits Great-Memere at her house in Lewiston. He loves to play on her bed.

It is hard to see beyond the steamed-up dome but Jeff and Reid are in the fish tank at LLBean. It wasn't steamy until JEFF got in it.

Jeff and I had a night to ourselves (sort of like an anniversary trip) and we joined some friends at the Orr's Island Yacht Club Commodores Dinner/Dance. It was a great evening that started with a beautiful boat ride around Orr's Island.

Boat Ride

We took the boat to Picnic Rock on the lake. Reid played in the water a bit then had enough of his life jacket. We ate lunch and swam a bit. It was a beautiful day.

Reid's full coverage swimsuit is too cute! He looks like he is in his jammies to swim but he is protected from the sun. Mommy should get one too.

The Fun Continues

Reid and "Less Bobby" sit to hear one of Reid's favorite books, Skippy Jon Jones.

Mommy made Grandma DeJongh's recipe for goulash...needless to say, Reid was a HUGE fan! You can't see it well but Reid's ear is swollen from a bug bite.

This is my first vegetable crop. The thing on the right is a sugar snap pea. YUMMY! Everything except the green beans have fruit. The pumpkins are looking really ill. I got them an organic fungicide so we will see if it works.

Our Little Dirt/Rock Eater

This is Reid the scientist. He likes to study specimen with his tongue. He puts everything in there...I think to see what they are made of. This is his latest experiment. It involved a dead leaf and a rock.

His next experiment happened in the backyard at the pepper/cucumber garden. Look closely at the mouth....a high-tech scientific instrument.

No folks, that is NOT oreo cookie.

July Already!

Reid attended his first baseball game on the fourth of July. We went to a Portland Seadogs game with the rest of the Breton-Churchill clan. It was a great time.

After the game we saw one of the greatest fireworks displays. Reid sat calmly through it all and never flinched. He was VERY tired and ready for the nap on the ride home.

School is OUT!

We took Reid to Old Orchard Beach. He looked very "big boy" in his car seat.

Reid prepares to hold the ball for a field goal across the lifeguard chair...in between bites of beach sand.

Back at home, Reid plays in the lake with his friend Emma. He has more fun throwing in pine needles and dirt than swimming.
